North County San Diego is about to get a dose of the longevity craze that’s taken over wellness culture nationwide, and it’s landing in Carlsbad. The Forum Carlsbad has a new tenant on the way, and this one isn’t selling clothes or coffee — it’s selling optimized biology.
Ultimate Longevity Center, a wellness concept backed by entrepreneur and human biologist Gary Brecka, is set to open at the open-air shopping center at 1905 Calle Barcelona, with the storefront already listed as “Coming Soon” on The Forum’s own directory. The business is partnering with Lifeforce, a health optimization company, to bring in-depth biomarker testing and personalized health routines to Carlsbad residents looking for more than a standard annual physical.
Brecka has built a national following by promoting data-driven approaches to what he calls “health span” — the idea that living longer matters less than living well for longer. His podcast appearances and social media presence have turned blood panels, breathwork and cold exposure into mainstream conversation topics, and bringing that philosophy to a brick-and-mortar location in Carlsbad puts North County on the map for a wellness trend that, until now, has mostly lived online and in Los Angeles.
What exactly the Carlsbad location will offer isn’t fully clear yet. The business hasn’t announced a specific opening date, and early inquiries about the timeline haven’t turned up a response. But The Forum has quietly become something of a wellness and lifestyle hub over the past year, already home to health-focused tenants alongside retail additions like Aritzia and Rowan. A longevity-testing center slots neatly into that mix, and it’s a sign of the kind of national attention North County’s retail centers are starting to pull in.
For Carlsbad’s small business community, the opening is also a reminder of how much foot traffic a destination concept can bring to a shopping center — something nearby shops and restaurants along the Calle Barcelona corridor stand to benefit from once the doors open.
